Cardmaking for Dorot/Happy Hour

Tuesday, March 12, 6:30pm
Oliver's Astoria (37-19 Broadway, Astoria)

Join Jennifer as she leads a handmade cardmaking workshop where the cards are made by YOU! The cards will then be given to Dorot, a non-profit organization that provides many different services mainly for older adults living on the Upper West Side. One way to volunteer is by making cards that Dorot will distribute to older adults for birthdays and holidays. For more info about Dorot and their card-making program, you can click the link here. All materials will be provided. We will meet at Oliver's Astoria and enjoy Happy Hour while creating our cards. Click the link to check out Oliver's menu here. To attend, RSVP to Jennifer. • Central 20s & 30s
    • Israeli-Palestinian Conflict Course with IPF
Beginning March 6 at 6:00pm, Community House
In partnership with the Israel Policy Forum (IPF), we are offering a course that provides an essential overview of the major issues of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict today. Through informational grounding, coupled with practical skill growth, this course is designed to empower participants to navigate an increasingly polarized communal landscape. • Volunteer with the Breakfast Program
      Thursday, March 14,
       6:00–7:30am, Pavilion
The Breakfast Program is among Central Synagogue’s longest ongoing social justice projects. The program was started in response to increasing homelessness and hunger throughout the city. Join us in distributing pre-made meals and other “to-go” items from the doors in front of the Pavilion entrance. There’s no better way to start the day than by giving back to the community! REGISTER

  • Donate to Aid in the Israel-Palestine Crisis
    • We are heartbroken and devastated by the war in Israel and Gaza. You can contribute to GlobalGiving's Israel-Palestine Crisis Relief Fund, which provides emergency relief and long-term support to people in need.

  • Donate to Aid in the Ukraine Crisis
    • Last February, WJOA member Jonah Schrogin volunteered at JCC Krakow, where he packed and sorted food for Ukrainian refugees. If you'd like to contribute to JCC Krakow's Ukraine relief program, here is their Ukraine Appeal. JCC Krakow is a 501(c)(3) organization, so any donations made are tax-deductible. Please write “Ukraine donation via Jonah Schrogin, int vol” in the comment box.

    • Jonah has another fundraiser, this one benefitting GlobalGiving's Ukraine Crisis Relief Fund. This supports more than 80 non-profit organizations on the ground in Ukraine and in the surrounding areas providing humanitarian aid, such as shelter, medical care, food, and clean water. Contribute here, and you can get more information by emailing Jonah, including seeing a recorded presentation.

  • Donate to Aid Wildfire Survivors in Hawaii
    • Contribute to GlobalGiving's Hawaii Wildfire Relief Fund here. The worst wildfires in Hawaii's history have caused more than 90 deaths, left dozens injured, and reduced towns to ash. Hundreds of people are missing. Strong winds from Hurricane Dora fueled the flames in Maui and the Big Island. Your donation to the Hawaii Wildfire Relief Fund will support wildfire relief and recovery efforts in affected communities.
Have an event you'd like to organize or share? As always, please don't hesitate to send them our way!
