Kabbalat Shabbat
With Samantha and Abe!

Friday, Jan. 21, 7:00 p.m.
 
Join us for our return to indoor services and dinner. This month Samantha and Abe have graciously offered to host us. E-mail Samantha to RSVP. You will receive a spreadsheet to keep track of the vegetarian dishes for dinner. We may cap attendance if needed - so please RSVP soon! Being fully vaccinated is required. Shades of Gray: A Mini-Course with Rabbi David Ellenson

Tuesdays, Jan. 11 - Feb. 1, 5:30 p.m.
 
Is there an absolute “right” and “wrong?” Are some things unforgivable? Or is “cancel culture” never the answer? Rabbi David Ellenson, PhD, returns to the Central community to help us struggle with these eternal (and possibly un-answerable) questions. These four sessions will explore a variety of issues, from World War II and the Holocaust to contemporary debates over cancel culture and controversies over Israel.

WJOA is hosting a Tu B'Shvat seder at Oliver's Astoria this year! Whether you've hosted your own or never heard of a Tu B'Shvat seder, we welcome you to learn about and participate in this fun Jewish tradition! Please RSVP using the registration link below. With the uncertainty of the pandemic, please let us know your comfort levels with indoor, food-related activities when filling out the form. We want to make sure that our events are safe and accessible to our community.

Christmastime for the Jews

We are back in person for this year’s post-Shabbat Chinese food and a movie at Jujube Tree (35-02 30th Ave). Afterward, we’ll march to the nearby movie theater and watch a movie of your choice. Join us for just dinner, just the movie, or both.
