Interested in getting more involved with this amazing group of Yids? The Wandering Jews of Astoria has openings for board positions coming up. A small amount of time can help us plan events and strengthen the Jewish community in Western Queens. To learn more, contact us!

Jews Do Comedy (a brand new concept)

Wednesday, Dec. 16, 8–9:30 p.m.

Alright, we know this is not a new concept - at this point there are probably more Jewish comedians than Talmudic scholars. But, whether you can quote Mel Brooks or you can quote Maimonides, this show is for you! After your Chanukah candles are lit and your stomach is full of latkes and jelly doughnuts, join us for some thematic holiday hilarity!

$5 – Click here to purchase tickets!

Christmastime for the Jews

Thursday, Dec. 24, 7 p.m.

One of our most popular annual events is back, and this year, it's COVID-friendly!

Let's get together from the comfort of our own homes to eat dinner and watch The Prom via Teleparty! (Teleparty, formerly Netflix Party, allows you to watch movies in a group and chat as the movie plays!) Facebook event is here. RSVP to Meredith if you can make it, and she will send you the link to join.

Please note that in order to participate, you must have a Netflix account and have the Teleparty extension downloaded on Chrome.

The Prom summary: A troupe of hilariously self-obsessed theater stars swarm into a small conservative Indiana town in support of a high school girl who wants to take her girlfriend to the prom.

BOAST: Best of Astoria 2020 Survey is LIVE

The BOAST: Best of Astoria 2020 Survey is LIVE, and we would like to hear from you! The survey is at boast.nyc/survey. Please fill it out by December 24, 2020, and be sure to add your name and email at the end of the survey for a chance to win a prize. We always appreciate short write-ups. It's been a very difficult year in general, and especially for local businesses, so we think it's more important than ever to say what our favorites are in the neighborhood. You can see the BOAST: Best of Astoria website, including last year's winners, at boast.nyc.

Combat Food Insecurity in Our City!

Did you cook too much food for your smaller-than-usual holiday gathering?
Donate your leftovers to reduce waste and prevent hunger!
Mayor Bill de Blasio estimates that over 2 million people — roughly a quarter of the city — could be food insecure, according to a recent article by Eater New York, linked here. One of the community groups helping to combat food insecurity is Astoria Fridges, community fridges that provide free, accessible food to the Astoria community 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Donate your excess food to an Astoria Fridge near you (click here for a map of locations)!
Have an event you'd like to organize or share? As always, please don't hesitate to send them our way! Stay safe and well during these trying times!
