Learning Happy HourGet Prophetic With It! Haftarah Toldot, Malachi, and Other Prophet Randos Location: Monika's Cafe/Bar (32-90 36th St, Astoria, NY 11106) Date: November 15th Learning: 6-6:45pm Drinking: 6:45-8:00pm *Monika's happy hour ends at 7. While most haftarot come from the prophetic big three of Isaiah, Ezekiel and Jeremiah, occasionally a parsha will include an excerpt from one of the lesser-known prophets. Parsha Toldot includes a reading from the book of Malachi--not a super familiar name to most non-bible nerds. We'll explore the idea of the haftarot as a kind of scriptural playlist to accompany the torah readings and what fun gems we might discover if we give other prophets like Joel, Amos, and Zephaniah a bit more love. Email Lisa Huberman if you plan on attending. Facebook invite coming soon! November Shabbat PotluckEat drink and be thankful! Please join us for our next Shabbat services and potluck.
