WJOA December Updates!

12/1/2015

Hi everyone!!!

See below for December updates and some reminders!

Shabbat Updates
Please join us for our very last Friday night Shabbat potluck of secular calendar year 2015 (don't worry, 5775 is still goin strong). It will be held on Friday December 11th at 7pm, at the apartment of Rachelle Butt. Please email her at rachelle.anna@gmail.com to get the signup sheet and to let her know that you'll be coming. Kindly RSVP by Wednesday, December 9th. You can also find more information on our Facebook Event Page.

Save the date for January 1:
Michael Croland will host a Friday evening service followed by a small *vegan* Shabbat dinner (12 ppl max). Email him asap at Mcroland@gmail.com if you'd like to join!
If you have a space that can accommodate at least 20 people and are interested in hosting a Shabbat potluck, please contact Ally Tash at travelin.ally@gmail.com.  Even if you have a smaller apartment, or are not comfortable hosting a large group, we encourage you to host a smaller shabbat dinner. Hosts decide whether to have a service, how many people they can accommodate, and whether or not it is potluck style. This is a great time to meet new and old friends in a more intimate setting.

Happy Hour
Our next happy hour will be Wednesday, December 9th at 7:00pm at Studio Square & will include a dreidel spinning competition. More details are here on our Facebook event page.

Book Club Brunch
Our next book club meeting will be this Sunday December 6th at 12pm. We will be reading "The History of Love" by Nicole Krauss. http://www.amazon.com/The-History-Love-Nicole-Krauss/dp/0393328627. Location TBD. To RSVP contact Jonah Schrogin at jonah.schrogin@gmail.com. You can find more information on our Facebook event page as well.

Chanukah Movie Night
On Saturday December 12 we will be showing the taping of the stage production of "Wiesenthal". Wiesenthal is the riveting true story of Simon Wiesenthal, an ordinary man who did extraordinary things. Nicknamed the “Jewish James Bond,” he devoted his life to bringing more than 1,100 Nazi war criminals to justice.  His unbelievable dedication and tenacity over decades is honored in this play, which gives equal weight to his wisdom and wit during his long, purposeful life. Please contact Ali Shapiro at tvgal0114@gmail.com for location & to RSVP. Keep an eye out for your Facebook event invitation!

Chanukah Culinary Event
'Esca sous chef and WJOA member Jacob Behar will be leading a knife skills and basic culinary techniques workshop for Chanukah. We'll make latkes and light candles on Sunday, December 13th, at 4pm!. A small donation will be requested for food supplies. Location TBA. Email Dan Sieber at dsieber74@gmail.com for more info and to RSVP by Friday, December 11th. Facebook event invite to follow!

Social Action
Toy Drive:
In the spirit of giving we will be collecting toys for the Coalition for the Homeless Holiday Toy Drive. There will be many ways to contribute if interested. Please bring a toy to any WJOA event taking place before Monday, December 14th, or email Ali at tvgal0114@gmail.com as she will drop off the toys at one of the donation centers. Alternatively you can buy a toy directly from the organization's Amazon wish list here or select one from their list of toy ideas here.

Trivia
Our next trivia is on Monday December 21st, 8pm at Oliver's. Stay tuned for the facebook event invite!
