WJOA December Updates

12/3/2014

If you have not done so already, please take a moment and fill out our "Best of Astoria" survey. All entries must be in by 5pm on 12/3.

Book Club
Please join us on Sunday 12/7 at noon. We will be reading "Goodbye Columbus," by Philip Roth. Please RSVP on the Facebook event page here, or with Jonah.

Shabbat Dinners
We are very excited to host our first Startup Shabbat on Friday 12/12 at the QNS Collective! We are unfortunately sold out for this event, but have some other Shabbat dinners taking place this month right here in Astoria:

This Friday 12/5, there will be dairy / pareve potluck dinner and services at the Astoria Center of Israel.  Dinner is at 6:15, followed by services at 7:00. For this and other events at ACI, click HERE.

Zelig will be hosting a (glatt kosher meat) Shabbat dinner at this home on 12/19 @ 4:10 pm (one of the earliest candle-lighting times of the year!!!), starting with davening, then followed by dinner. He has room for seven guests. To RSVP and get the address, email Zelig.

Michael Croland will be hosting Shabbat services and a Vegan potluck at his home on 12/26 at 6:30 pm.  All food must be vegan (no meat / poultry / fish, dairy or eggs). He has room for twelve guests. Please RSVP with Michael.

Please save the date January 16th for our first Shabbat of 2015 at Jordan's home. Details to follow...

Happy Hour
Our next happy hour will be on Thursday 12/18 at 7:00pm. More details to follow!

Schmooze News Items
On 12/15 from 6-8pm Lab Shul will be hosting their monthly study session / exploration of the Shmita year as part of the Lab Shul's Fallow Lab project. Click HERE for more information.

We are always looking for volunteers to host upcoming Shabbat dinners. Please feel comfortable hosting 20-25 people in your home. Anyone interested in hosting should contact Ally. If you do not have the space to accommodate a large group but would still like to host, please consider hosting a smaller "unofficial" potluck that can take place in addition to our monthly dinner.

As always, don't hesitate to send any stories/updates my way.
Dan
