A NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM

Come join us for for a Pay-What-You-Wish night at the Jewish Museum on 2/2 from 5-8pm to see 
The Television Project:You Don't Have To Be Jewish. This exhibit "explores advertising produced for Jewish audiences or with Jewish audiences or with Jewish content, and examines the way religion,ethnicity, and identity play out on American television". Brian Mawyer will be there to greet you. TU BISHVAT POTLUCK DINNER

Join the Astoria Center of Israel for a potluck dinner and service celebrating Shabbat and Tu Bishvat on Friday, February 10th.  All guests are encouraged to bring a vegetarian dish to share.  Although not required, feel free to incorporate any of the Seven Species (wheat, barley, grapes, figs, pomegranates, oil, and honey) into your dish in celebration of Tu Bishvat.  The event will be held in the downstairs social hall of the Astoria Center of Israel. at 27-35 Crescent Street, Astoria, NY 11102.  Dinner will begin at 6:00pm, followed by a Kabbalat Shabbat and Tu Bishvat service at 6:45pm. SHABBAT POTLUCK​

​Please join us for our next Shabbat services and potluck. It will be held at Mor and Liz's apartment on Friday, February 17th. For their address and to get the signup sheet (to say what you're bringing), please email Mor Mezrich by Wednesday 2/15 to RSVP. And as always, our potlucks are pareve/dairy only.Have questions for those attending? ​The votes are in, and the book The Sisters Weiss by Naomi Ragen has been selected. We'll be meeting for brunch on 3/5 at 12pm to share our thoughts on the novel. Email Jonah Schrogin for the covert location.

THE JEWISH RESPONSE TO RACISM & ANTISEMITISM

The hard-fought 2016 presidential campaign laid bare a national divide on a wide range of policy concerns and has energized a dangerous segment of our populace whose hateful rhetoric advanced from the margins to the mainstream. In response they'll discuss the connections and distinctions between racism and antisemitism, as well as the Jewish community’s responsibility to the fight for racial justice. The event takes place at the Temple Emanu-El Streicker Center, 10 East 66th Street, New York, NY 10065, on March 15 from 7-8:30pm.
The event is free, but you must RSVP HERE.

​GOOD GIRLS, NASTY WOMEN: GENDER & AMERICAN JEWISH HISTORY

Join the Jewish Book Council at the Jewish Museum on 3/28 at 6:15pm for a discussion with three award-winning writers on the mobilization of women throughout American history. Admission is FREE and includes guided tours of museum's feature exhibit The Arcades: Contemporary Art and Walter Benjamin as well as a book-signing reception with wine and refreshments following the main event. However, space is limited, and all guests MUST register in advance.  Questions?
